Brazilian-born alternative artist Blue Mar fuses raw indie rock with the soulful rhythms of his homeland, blending harmonica, intricate guitar work, and a sound that feels both nostalgic and new. His breakout releases HURL and The March Hare earned praise from American Songwriter, Broke Magazine, and Culture Collide, establishing him as a rising voice in the alternative scene.
Recent singles like Fallen Leaves, Tough Spell, Belle of the Ball, and Never Ever Was have received international radio play and features on BBC, MTV Brasil, Canal BIS, and Radio Rock.
His sophomore album OLIVEIRA is a bold tribute to his roots, subtly layering Brazilian instruments into the gritty textures of alt-rock. Produced by Mar and Pedro Serapicos, mixed by Craig Silvey, and mastered by Matt Colton, the album channels the raspy energy of Miles Kane, Kasabian, and Stereophonics. Deep basslines, driving percussion, and sharp guitars create a sound that moves between dancefloor and dive bar.
The album/vinyl release was celebrated with a sold-out Rough Trade Berlin show, followed by a successful European tour through Germany, Czech Republic, Belgium, and Austria. Blue Mar has taken the stage across Brazil, the UK, US, South Africa, and Mozambique, steadily building global buzz.
Most recently, Blue Mar wrapped a South African tour, highlighted by a live performance and interview on national morning TV show Expresso. The run included standout venues like District (Cape Town) and Smoking Kills (Johannesburg), along with a support slot for local indie legends Shortstraw. With momentum building, Blue Mar now sets his sights on a string of shows across South America.
“Nashville meets Rio de Janeiro by way of the rodeo. Their striking aesthetics matched their onstage energy from start to finish.”
